by Alicia M. Amezcua

80s Albums Covers were an amazing time for music and fashion. These album covers are some of the most beautiful you will ever see. What makes an album cover special? For some, it’s the artist who designed it. For others, the music inside made them fall in love with it in the first place. And for others, the artistic design captures their attention and gets them hooked.

There are two types of people in the world – those who love 80s album covers and those who hate them. We’re here to talk about the latter.

We are going to take a look at the most beautiful album covers of all time. The best artists in the world designed some of them, and others were commissioned by record labels who wanted to make a splash on the Billboard charts.

But what makes them different from each other? Why would one person love one type of album cover and another love a different one?

Have you ever wondered what makes some albums stand out from the rest? What’s the difference between the cover of a classic album by David Bowie, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, or Van Morrison? Why is the cover of Bob Dylan’s “Blood On The Tracks” so different from the other songs in his catalog?

80s Albums

The Beatles – Revolver (UK)

80s music was full of catchy melodies, amazing vocals, and brilliant musicianship. And while some of their music is timeless, many tracks aren’t remembered. Some of these songs were forgotten due to poor songwriting; others because they didn’t reach the mainstream. But a few covers stand out for being incredibly creative, beautiful, and innovative.

If you’re a fan of the 80s, you probably already love these cover art concepts. But if you’re unfamiliar with them, you’re about to fall in love with them. We’ve compiled the top 80s album covers ever created. They’re all incredible in their own right, but some are truly breathtaking.

The Beach Boys – Pet Sounds (US)

What I love about this list is the variety. A wide range of styles, designs, and themes are represented. It’s like a visual history lesson, which makes it easy to see the progression of design trends throughout the decade.

I was shocked to discover that so many of the album covers were the same thing. This may seem like an obvious conclusion, but most people don’t realize it.

Owning a collection of the most beautiful album covers is a ton of value.

It’s one of the only tangible assets you can collect from the past. It’s a great addition to any home.

When you start collecting these things, you’ll begin to appreciate them more and more as time goes on.

I think I am the only person who likes these covers.

These covers look like the artists themselves designed them. There’s a sense of creativity and individuality that you don’t see on most other album covers.

80s Albums

Dire Straits – Love Over Gold (UK)

This is an interesting “80s album cover tour.” The album cover is very simple, but it has much going on. The photo is of a man and a woman, with the man wearing a suit and holding a briefcase.

There is a huge question mark above his head, a symbol usually seen in artwork to signify “uncertainty.” The woman looks straight into the camera with her eyes slightly open.

What is she looking at? Who is she looking at? Is it a “happy” or “unhappy” moment? The photo itself is ambiguous. But the back cover of the record tells us what’s going on.

In this case, the rich is the man. He is holding the briefcase and has “more” than he needs. His girlfriend looks at him in a “worried” fashion and doesn’t seem to have anything.

The “poor” are the woman and the “woman’s child.” The child is looking up to the man, who is “hiding” behind the “curtain” of the “rich” man. He is “watching” her and “watching” her mother.

Blondie – Parallel Lines (US)

As a teenager, I was obsessed with punk rock and would listen to anything by the Sex Pistols, the Ramones, the Buzzcocks, and the Dead Kennedys.

These bands were a part of my teenage years and are still important to me today. But the band that stood out to me the most was Blondie.

I was never a huge fan of the band until I was introduced to Parallel Lines. This album featured the perfect blend of pop and punk.

As a musician, I’ve always been fascinated by album covers. So when I started to research some of the most beautiful album covers of all time, I was surprised to discover that some of these albums had never been released.

For example, I learned that an album called “The Big Sleep” was originally released in 1987. The album’s cover has never been removed, but I’ve included it below.

The album is called “Love over Gold,” but the cover has a different story. The title comes from a line in the song “Money for Nothing.” The song is about greed and how the “rich” get richer while the “poor” suffer.
